Binary Dragons Host a LAN Tournament with a $10,000 Prize Pool

The Serbian team with a dragon in their crest has played at more than 30 events since the last year, and we are bound to hear more about them in the future. The organization changed from previous mostly russian roster over the last two seasons and now features the former squad of iNation which consists of 3 Serbian players alongside with a player from Bosnia and Herzegovina and one from Macedonia. Right now all of them are showing the world that they not only play to be the best, but they can provide an opportunity to demonstrate that as well. So far the team has organized several online seasons and smaller cups, and in March they have also presented the Binary Dragons CSGOPolygon Cup to the public.

The LAN tournament they are organizing now is to be held in the heart of Russia - Moscow - during the 26th and 27th August. The prize pool of this offline event is quite attractive for a local tournament and is one of the reasons why it is in the spotlight of this week’s announcements.

The New Cyberspace Arena Will Host the Event

8 teams will compete for the first prize of $5,000 in Moscow’s Cyberspace Arena. The 2000m² eSports venue 'Cyberspace' was opened on the 1st of July in the Moscow Riviera shopping mall, and it is more than ready to provide entertainment on two sizable AV Stumpfl projection screens to 500 people on the site. And, of course, also to thousands more online with the help of a video recording studio which is hidden inside the arena as well.

6 out of 8 Invitations Have Been Sent So Far

Out of 8 teams, 6 have been directly invited to participate at the event. So far, all of these 6 teams confirmed their attendance at the event. It is needless to mention that Binary Dragons will occupy one of these spots to prove their worth in the tournament. So far, the roster looks like this:

  • Serbia: Binary Dragons
  • Denmark: North Academy
  • Bulgaria: Imperial
  • Russia: Spartak
  • Ukraine: pro100
  • Russia: Spirit

The remaining 2 spots in the tournament were to be determined by a closed qualifier to which any European team was able to register. Alongside with the registered teams, these 6 teams were invited to compete for the spots in the offline tournament itself. These teams were:

  • Russia: Spirit Academy
  • Belarus: GoodJob
  • Kazakhstan: AVANGAR
  • Slovakia: eXtatus
  • Lithuania: Playing Ducks
  • Finland: VITALIS

There were 256 total spots in the closed qualifier which already took place on August 16th. The invited teams, however, did not even make it into the first 10th and thus provided the remaining two free spots to the offline event to the registered teams. The first team to complement the event roster of the invited teams is qbfire alongside with NxS who advanced from the second place.
