The International 6 Qualifier results

After the conclusion of The International 6 Regional Qualifiers we now know the 14 out of 16 teams that will compete at the main event. The remaining 2 spots will be decided through the tournament’s wild card competition in August.

Over a span of eight days, 37 teams fought to secure their spots at the multi-million dollar event in Seattle on Aug. 3, but in the end only 12 qualified for what is the largest eSports competition in the world.

Despite several upsets at the start of the round robin stage, most favorites eventually won a seat at the main event.

However, some had to fight harder than others. Alliance, the winners of TI3, is perhaps the most obvious example. Playing in one of the toughest qualifier regions, the Swedes performance in the group stage was pretty average. With a final record of five wins and four losses, Alliance were sent into a double-elimination bracket, the next stage of the qualifier that would decide who went on to The International. The second place finishers, meanwhile, would have one more chance thanks to the wild card tournament, where four teams will battle for the final two slots at event. In the end, Alliance beat out Escape Gaming in the grand finals and secured their direct spot at TI6.

The North American qualifier was also full of upsets, most notably compLexity Gaming's loss to Digital Chaos in the grand finals. The compLexity squad has looked like one of the most consistent teams from the American region this year. Facing a fierce wild card event ahead of them, now one of the fan favorites may miss out on the main event.
